The Form & Architecture of Pompeii

Title: The Forum Arch of Pompeii

Foundations in the Ash: The Architectural Presence of Pompeii

Artist/Photographer: Sharalie Albanese

Medium: Fine Art Photography / Archival Pigment Print

The Artist’s Perspective

We are a culture obsessed with the next blueprint. We build, we scale, and we race toward the future, treating time as an adversary to be conquered. Yet, the ancient stones of Pompeii demand a different cadence. They invite us to step off the continuous wheel of momentum and simply stand where our feet are.

This collection captures the public heart of the ancient city—the grand Forum, the monumental arches, and the defiant fluted pillars of the Temple of Jupiter. When Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 A.D., the immediate world was instantaneously reduced to smoke and rubble. Entire lives, titles, and empires collapsed in a single day under the weight of falling stone.

Yet, centuries later, these architectural foundations still hold their ground against the Italian horizon.

This photograph is not a study of death or decay; it is a masterclass in resilience and radical presence. These columns do not rush. They do not strive. They exist beautifully, anchoring themselves firmly in the open air, unbothered by the passage of millennia. They serve as a timeless monument for the high-achieving leader, reminding us that while empires inevitably shift and the future remains unwritten, our truest power belongs to the foundations we choose to inhabit right now.
